Janis, Right on! If you say it, do it. If it's an expectation, follow through. Communication is the key.
Daniel , right. They may not be able to quickly develop a perfect rubric (nor can we all the time), but they can provide input. Nice job.
Daniel , Yes, many times students are not used to instructors asking for their opinion. It's good that they become comfortable with the process and become more responsible for their own learning. Thanks!
Daniel , Always fun to go back in time! ;-) Ha! Keep those students involved and engaged. It's the path to success. Thanks for your input.
Donna, But, the more we involve students, the more conforatble they will become. They may not all be comfortable all the time, but I'm not in my job either. ;-) Thanks!

Daniel , I like your use of the word "insurance." That's a great way of noting whether the rubric is working (measuring what it should) or not. Thanks!
Daniel , The course content does dictate, at times, how we need to ask questions or provide content. Keep trying new things though and always engage the students in the learning process. Thanks!
Daniel , We continue to learn from each other through these forums. It's good we can discuss things that may overwhelm the students and how to better assist the students in their success in the online environment. Thanks!
Daniel , good review of what can go wrong. Thanks for bringing this to our attention so we can avoide the pitfalls. Thanks!

Donna, If the instructor does not develop the rubrics, it should be evident that the learning outcomes are measured appropriately. If the learning outcomes can be listed on the rubric, even better. Thanks!
