Naomi, The content, learning outcomes and the students many times dictates how material is provided to students. Thanks for your input.

Bob, Excellent. It is so necessary to know your students and help them learn the content so that they can achieve the learning outcomes. Thanks for your input.

Janis, We both need rubrics - instructors and students. When the expectations are clear, it's more likely the students will achieve the learning outcomes. Thank you.
Karen, Those are great "C" words - consistency and clarity. They lead to effective communication - another important "C" word in the online environment. Thanks!
Thomas, You style will definitely impact your communication patters. It's good to let students know your response time and communicate with them in a timely manner. Nice job.
Michael, Thanks for your three important things to consider. You are right on with your comments. Thanks again.

Daniel , Ah - but my PowerPoints are voice over PowerPoints with quizzes built in. The students hear/see a few slides, a questions is posed and then they answer questions. They are not passively looking at pictures/slides. Then we discuss on the bulletin board or in synchronous meetings. It's all connected. Thanks for your input.
Discussion Comment
Daniel , I can see your point. You may have a rubric that simply helps you assess the thoroughness of the students work and whether or not they have defended their answer, but not necesarily a right answer as many times there may not be a right answer.

Janis, I teach business communication as well. It's so important to continue to stress professional communication. Keep up the good work!

Onyema, Time zones is something we haven't discussed much. Thanks for bringing that up. Knowing your audience (student make-up) and providing content in a variety of ways to meet the students' learning needs is very important. Thank you.
