Elizabeth, Rubrics serve as a guide for students and instructors. This helps everyone do "their job" better. Thanks.
Discussion Comment
Kathleen, Anything that helps you immensely is well worth the effort. Rubrics can be difficult to develop, but are well worth taking the time to do so.
Discussion Comment
Carolyne, So glad you love rubrics and think they are great. They do help students and instructors alike.
Discussion Comment
Darcel, Yes, they make your job and the "students' job" easier as everyone understand the expectations and how they are going to be assessed. Thanks.
Discussion Comment
Perry and Nicole, You are right - the level of quality can improve with the use of rubrics. When students understand the expectations and the criteria help them improve, the quality of work will improve as well.
Discussion Comment
Perry , Right on! When effective rubrics are designed, they help the students understand the expectations and help the instructors grade more objectively.
Discussion Comment
Colleen, The key is that rubrics help both the instructor and the students. Thanks for sharing.
Discussion Comment
Elizabeth, Each generation has different strengths and weaknesses, just like all students. Understanding our students helps us, as instructors, reach all students.
Discussion Comment
Carolyne, Yes and the better we understand our audience (the students), but better we can provide content in a better format to help students reach the learning outcomes. Whether synchronous or asynchrounous, students can learn in a variety of ways.
Discussion Comment
Perry , Using professional examples can help students understand the importance of grammar, spelling, etc. Nice job.
