Robert, Yes, knowing your audience is where to start. And, we have to follow up with what we expect the students to do and how we teach them.
Elizabeth, Constructive is the key work in this case. Students have to understand that assessment is something we are trying to do with them not to them. That's meaningful feedback.

denise, Email reminders can go a long way and now I'm going to try the app Remind101 which will send information to students as a text. They seem to check them more often. Thanks for your input.
