MeriAnn, Your third point may be the most important. It's essential to get the information to students in a way they understand it and can move forward with it. The platform is essential so the information is accessible and easy for students to use. Thanks!
John, Self-assessment is a good way to review things, but don't dismiss the power of peer and student evaluations as well. They bring a whole new perspective to everything. Thanks!
Jerry, Five week course are very intensive for sure. The first week can become very important. I also send an email to my students a week before the course starts and ask them to go into the LMS and look around and get familiar with everything because we are going to hit the ground running! That helps.
John, Yes, your feedback should be meaningful to help the students learn and improve. You are right on target with your comments. The timeliness and specific comments are so important. Thanks! Dr. Tena B. Crews

Muriel, I love that you brought up the point about connecting the rubrics to the learning outcomes and objectives. This is essential. Thanks!

Muriel, The more we understand our students, no matter what generation, the better we can reach them. You are correct. Thanks!
Muriel, Thanks for bringing up the language barriers and differences among students. We have to take this into conversation. Thanks!
Muriel, I agree too. If the tools are not usable, they won't be used. This is not helpful to the communication process. Thanks!

Jerry, Good point. I think others feel the same way. What I try to do is ask students on a formative basis (about 3 weeks into a 15 week course and again about 6 weeks) as to what they would like for me to stop doing, start doing and continue to do (Stop, Start, Continue method). They typically make suggestions and if I can change something based on their suggestion, I do. If I can't change it, I explain why and that usually is because it's tied to a learning objective. But, then the students see you want their feedback… >>>

Christopher, The sooner we learn workload management strategies that help us be better online instructors and have a balance in our lives, the better. Thanks!
