Dr. James and Cristy, Using students' names helps build that community and helps them feel like they are not just a number, but a person within the course. Thanks!
Discussion Comment
Dr. James , Yes, we want to avoid repeating the same thing over and over again. We want to try and answers group questions when possible. Thanks!

Dr. James , Glad your students know your rule. A 24 hour reply time is very reasonable. Thanks!
Michael, I too love using current events to try and connect the content to the real world. I sparks communication among students too. Nice job.
Melissa, Announcements and tips for success can both be beneficial for students. We have to help them refer to the resources we provide in our proactive communication. Thanks!
Dr. James and Robert, Thanks for continuing the conversation. I use the FAQ discussion board for all questions and ask students to check that for answers. If they email me and I know the question has been answered, I refer them again to the FAQ discussion board. After awhile, they do that and don't email me. It helps with email overload. Thanks!
Dr. James , Perfect. Students need to know where they can ask questions and can also develop a good relationship with others as they answer other students' questions. Thanks!
Sloan, Keeping that relationship with technology support can serve you and your students. You bring up a very good point. Thanks!
Dr. James , We have to try various ways to get the information to students. I use Jing to record my feedback to students and they seem to respond well to that. Keep moving forward. Thanks!
Dr. James , Creating a schedule is the first step in trying to manage your time and the course. When students know when you are going to be in communication with them, their stress may be reduced. Thanks!
