James, I like the term you used "status of the audience." Many times we think about an audience analysis, but I like the term "status." It makes use think differently about the audience - the students. Thanks!

Janet, The syllabus is typically the first thing we think about because many times it is the first bit of communication we provide to our students. Combining this information with the learning objectives and scaffolding new learning is essential. Nice job.
