Rafael, You are right. We all have different levels of self-efficacy, knowledge and abilities, but through the cooperation you mention, we can move all students toward the learning objectives. Thanks!
Rafael, We can use replies to posts from one course to another some times, but we have to make sure we are on target with the post and the course. Thanks!
Carolyne, Good point. This is excellent. They have to have used a rubric before they can begin to develop one. This is exactly what I do. I use several rubrics with them first and then involve them on the "big project" rubric so they have buy in. Thanks!
Carolyne, Thanks for the resources. I find the rubrics I find online need some tweaking to make sure they specifically measure the objectives I need it to assess. But, any online resource is a good start. Thanks again.
Carolyne, Yes, too much information can cause confusion and the rubric will be of no help to the students or the instructor. It takes practice, but making sure the objectives are assessed and the criteria are efficient is key.
Carol, There is a happy place between too many criteria and not enough criteria. It takes some practice in making rubrics to find that balance. We have to make sure those criteria effectively assess the objectives. I like to put the objectives in the rubric as well. Thanks for your input.

Carolyne, And, any time we can provide direction for the students, the better. Students learn to use the rubric eventually - if not at first - when they begin to see their grades and your comments. Thanks!

Carolyne, I tell students to self-assess using the rubric prior to turning in the assignment. And, whenever they question their earned points on a rubric, the first question I ask is, "Did you self-assess?" That helps get them self-assessing if not on that assignment, but on the next one. ;-)

David, Right on. When we use rubrics as instructors, we clarify the expectations, objectives and what we think the project is all about. It helps us reflect on what we are asking the students to do. Thanks!

Diana, Knowing your audience includes knowing about the difference generations included in the course. It's good to have strategies to communicate with all students. Nice job.
