One of the biggest takeaways for me is that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation play important roles in student success, but they serve different purposes. Intrinsic motivation comes from within the student, such as a genuine interest in learning, curiosity, or personal growth. Extrinsic motivation comes from external factors like grades, praise, rewards, or recognition. While extrinsic motivators can help students get started or stay on track, intrinsic motivation is often what leads to deeper learning and long-term engagement.

I have learned to allow student choice when possible (although it can be tough). I have also learned to incorporate active learning strategies into my courses because adult students do not want to just listen. 

Constant feedback is a must! 

Feedback should be meaningful. 

To create community in your classroom. 

Keep your course modules consistent in style and length. 

I need to show students the intrinsic motivator in my class. 

I found the idea of options interesting. But I can see how that could be complicated for grading. 

Don't be afraid to ask questions. 

Students cheat when given the opportunity.
