I liked the ideas in this course for keeping students engaged.  One was using index cards to write information about each student, so that you could learn about each one, and have them actively paricipate in classroom discussions accordingly.  A great motivation tool.

We have a wonderful Learner Services Department (Student Services) that I can refer them to if necessary. However, I liked the information about getting to the "heart of the… >>>

When I first starting teaching less than 2 years ago, I was always focussed in on "lecturing".  What I have learned, and what this course has reinforced, is that you create a much better learning environment when you facilitate learning by asking questions (checks for understanding) and encouraging sharing and discussions.  It makes a lot of sense, and I think the students appreciate and enjoy it.
