I have learned that each course or module should be done and organized the same way. This lessens confusion and helps the student to become familiar with the course outline.  Course consistancy is major.

I learned that it is important to keep good records of contact and student participation even online. Online you deal with different types of students just as in the class. It is also important to follow guidelines when dealing with students and to make each session with students equitable.

Knowing the difference in the types of meetings helps to manage a class discussion. Synchronous and asynchronous meetings have benefits for the learner when done correctly.

Having an understanding of the online platform is essential to success with online learning.  It is important to have an orientation to help students with navigating through the CMS. It is important that as an educator I find ways to interact with the students.

It is important to post a biography about yourself to allow the student to know more about you. Students should also be requried to post a biography about themselves. It is important develop a relationship with the students even online. Students should be made to feel important inorder to keep them engaged and to produce a high quality of work.

I have learned that the course management system needs to be user friendly. Both the teacher and the students need to know the components and how to use them. Support needs to be available for all parties. Assigments need to be clear and concise.
