In this module I learned how to keep course records: creating email folders, desktop folder for each student or each assignment per term or per student. Communicate effectively with each student, by discussion post, live chats, office hours, one on one email counseling. It is okay to counsel students via email, it is secure way to counsel students and keep a written record of conversations. Dealing with undesirable behavior by addressing different type of negative behavior students live the intimidators, noisy, procrastinator type students. Minimizing student attrition by identifying the students who may feel alienated, technically challenged, and/or lost.

In this module I learned how to engage adult student learners online and in person (asynchronus/synchronus). I can make my presence project by initiating and leading discussion boards. I can also post my picture alongside my discussion post and announcement. I learned that the golden standard for projecting my presence is posting a short video message accompanied by the script text in the video. A caution, never feel the need to respond to every post or comment made after the initial response. Never feel the need to remark on every comment made by students in the classroom in person.

I learned that I can project my presence online. I learned that I do not have to dominate all discussions to project my presence but rather be selective as to what questions I will respond to.

I should be familiar with the course delivery methods because there are many things the instructor must know how to do and several questions that I must know how to answer such as: How to access attendance roster online, how to navigate the tabs in Canvas, how to find the gradebook.

I've learned thus far to familiarize myself with delivery techniques by asking myself questions:

How will I deliver the the content: pass arounds, videos, short lectures, case studies

Do students have everything they need to gain access on day one! Passwords, links, web address, etc

Having a lesson plan is great way to stay on topic. It also helps clarify the order of the day for said topic. It also helps me gather the appropriate supplies needed, such as appropriate teaching aids.

Because of this course, I feel confident that I know the components of a successful lesson plan creation. Determine the lesson content, develop a lesson title, verbalize by instructional intent. My lesson plan should also address questions like, why do my students need to learn this content? What do I want the students to learn in this content? And lastly, how will I teach this content? A successful lesson plans addresses a form of evaluation of it's effectiveness in the end.

I've learned that to develop my own lesson plan. I need the following: lesson content, unit title, instructional goals, why do they need to learn this? What do I want them to learn? How will I teach them? List any necessary materials and aids, and evaluate lesson effectiveness afterwards.

I learned that the first day in class I should cover the syllabus and policies. By the end of the class the students should have a sense of where they are going and how they will get there, no strangers in the class, an awareness that I care about their learning, and that the course will be of value and enjoyable.

I learned to keep a checklist with the important topics and task I need to perform that class session. Also jot down what follow-up task are needed for the students.
