Good Point Zach.  As a consumer/customer, if the questions are not met or the item is not fully understand, as a consumer of wanting knowledge before making a decision to buy a product or not, we have that ability to either go up the chain to more knowledgable employees or seek self knowledge by means of books, internet, friend referrals and/or other customers' opinions on certain products.  Leaving the customer to make his/her own decision verses being left with following the norm or trends can either lead to disaster or satisfaction in the product they have researched before purchasing.  At… >>>

Very good insight Joan as far as students are hard to assess sometimes; totally agreed.  I find that if we attentively listen to our students and support their choices with regards to their educational experience, we can still continue to present the necessary material for their learning objectives hoping that they will put the hours of thought into what is requirred of them to succeed in a chosen field of study.  I feel it is necessary for our students to utilize the resouces available to them during the learning process, with the understanding that we are facilitors to assist in… >>>

The challenge, although difficult can be rewarding when in fact that practice does make perfect.  When math is your least favorite subject, it is imperative that we continue to give math problems and work them through together so the student is comfortable with the subject.  Yes, Pharmacology is a tough subject and you need to have those dose calcs down.  On days when you are super busy, a colleague to double check your calcs can be a matter of life and death for patients who are receiving that medication especially if intravenously.  Keep your Apples and Oranges separate and know… >>>

Wow....Hydraulics, sounds like you deal with vehicles?  I find with any Profession, if we utilize our Tenure, Experienced Employees/Staff to assist with the Rationale of Why we do what we do and do it well, it helps the younger less experienced staff/employees understand that the trade/profession is an Art and that in order to preserve the Art we need to understand the mechanics of the trade.  Then, once they have mastered the Trade and passed their Certification and Licensure they can then stretch and grow into their own way of mastering their piece of Art....

Agreed Maria on Listening.  Amazing enough, people/patients/students know what is needed to fix their own problems, however if we just acknowledge their feelings and assist in facilitating their current resources they will feel heard, validated and respected.  Some problems may not be fix imediatedly, and some will need time to work out the resources at the time to fix other problems.  Help them break it down to small pieces verses one huge problem and crisis.  Great insight, thanks.

Agreed Barbara.  Amazing how these tools can be used.  And, how they upgrade and/or change them once the skills are acquired.  Keep up with the New Technology and Research is very important to Student's Success.

I found this course to be very thought provoking.  Amazing what all needs to be evaluated as you prepare for your term and lesson planning.  How is my planning going to be effective or not, depends on how it relates to the students' learning styles, security and autonomy.  I guess a different way to view the learning process when you are on the other side preparing the lecture material and how its going to impact the learning process.  Good Session.

Although Criticism either Positive or Negative can be uncomfortable, it is however how we are evaluated in our performance reviews.  If done in a Professional Manner, it can be very therapeutic in the change process that needs to take place in order to do better and/or presenting the accolades for a job well done.  Either way, it is a challenge for me to be put in a spot light for others to judge or envy successes.

Thanks Bill.  I will give it a shot.

Being a new instructor for theory and simulation has brought much joy, excitement and contentment all bundled together; to share many years of experience with students is beyond words. It has also brought challenges that I could use some input to help resolve.  When asked students what part of their clinical experience/s was most helpful to obtaining knowledge beyond the classroom, the response I received from two (2) students was that they would pass on discussion, meaning they did not want to discuss their clinical experiences or what part of those experiences touched them personally in building upon their new-learning practice?  When I… >>>
