I think that students should really take the time to educate themselves what tools are available to them. I always compare online technology to cell phones. Every time you get a new model you have to learn the new functions. I equate this to whatever online tools are used on the platform that is being used. We are still pretty new to online technology in our school and it is evolving rapidly so we are all learning the new tools available. I find it quite challenging because we have changed up quite a bit.

Commitment and discipline are key to being successful online learners as well.

Time management is the issue I run into all of the time with students. They don't allow themselves enough time to properly complete the material. I also teach in a technical school and I find that when using groups of no more than three students it can become a better learning environment. I also allows me to make evaluations during the learning process. I find it is easier for a student to ask for help and break barriers they may have with their teacher making it easier to ask for help.

I beleive in grading my papers as they are handed in and I assign due dates so they don't pile up and I can keep up with the work load.
I agree with making a to do list. I find that when I make lists and cross off completed tasks that I feel a lot more productive with what I do with my time. I also notice more things getting done an alot less left unfinished.
