The essance, if not components, of a metarubric can be a lens for any assessment or scoring, even an MC test.

Collecting student examples (exemplars) to use as a) student examples and, b) anchor papers for scoring, is a simple addition to a rubic rollout that will prove to be beneficial. 

Rubrics aid stuents in completing task and and in understanding grading.

They aid teachers in presenting expectations and in grading reliably.

Diagnostic, formative, summative, and evaluative assessments all play complimentary roles in serving the need to know what the student has and hasn't mastered.
