Activity

I have learned that games and simulations will be a wonderful addition to tmy classroom.  Especially in the place of pop quizes or when too many warm-ups have been used, and a game would be a welcome change.  Pop quizes drop the students score quickly and I only come away knowing that they could answer the few questions I presented, and know all that the student knows or doesn't know.  I hope I can learn to create effective games.  I do not see that purchasing games will work with my departments budget.

Games can help in low stakes assessment where the learner might be less motivated.

You should put as much effort and scaffolding in to he games you create or select, as you would a traditional classroom lesson or group lesson.

You have to be careful with the type of game or simulation you pick for your curriculum.  Just because it says educational does not mean it does wht you are intending it to do.

I like how the training talked about real world applications.  Specifically about the workplace, and how serious games could help learners become more adaptable in the real world workplace.  The traditional classroom is very structured, and may not teach learners about adaptability while producing quality work.
