I will talk to my tech support people to see if students can integrate videos they produce into our Live Chats.

I teach an introductory course in an institution with no entrance requirements.  I provide detailed feedback on their assignments, but 50% or more just look at the grade and do not respond to the feedback.  How does one entice students with limited or no study skills to look at and engage with feedback?

I find online students do not have the habit of reading instructor announcements and so have developed the practice of emailing all announcements as well as posting them on the course home page. Any suggestions for developing a habit of regularly checking announcements?

Teaching a Comp 1 course, I include following assignment directions in my grading rubric because so many students do not seem to have the ability or the discipline to read and follow directions.  I think universities, online or not, should assess reading skills and provide a remedial reading course where needed.

Blog Comment

Agreed, the course is a good refresher.  It led me to give more thought to methods of communicating with students.
