Preparedness shows students that you respect them and their time. Also, the importance of helping guest speakers be prepared so their class appearance is beneficial to everyone.

I have come to realize that I am not anywhere near perfect and will always be learning new ways to present information in an effective manner. Being honest and upfront when I am wrong helps me learn and grow and humanizes me to my students.

I have never considered that students with a "chip on their shoulder" might just be redirecting anger. Having the ability to recognize these students and presenting them with successful alternatives is imperative for a successful classroom.  This module also had excellent strategies the discourage and deal with cheating students.

This module contains valuable strategies when dealing with different types of learners.

I always enjoy icebreakers because it allows me to get to know my class (and helps me remember names). I have a better understanding of what needs to be outlined clearly in the syllabus to support student success and limit any confusion.

Making sure lectures are kept to certain times in order to have maximum attention span and keeping instructions to 5-7 steps for increased retention.

I didn't realize the importance of learning the student names so quickly. I will have to come up with some activities that are fun for the class and help me learn names in a short period of time.

Although we have field experince, there is a great deal of planning and preparation that needs to be done PRIOR to class in order for things to run efficiently and smoothly.  Also, by arriving early we can support a friendly, well modeled environment.

I was reminded of things to avoid as a new instructor. I am not a babysitter or a pal!
