Seems I always forget to add time for unexpected issues. Now I know that they should be scheduled into each day and if not needed, then I have a little free time to catch up if needed.

This course was very interesting as I deal with these type of students every day. Teaching adult students can definately be a challenge. I would love to hear more solutions to engage students who would rather talk to their neighbor or play on their computer instead of participating or paying attention in class.

Re-stating students questions

I think its a good idea to refrase student questions-this not only can correct grammer if needed, but also lets you know if you actually understand what the student is questioning.

Introductions

The main reason that people usually want to become a hygienist is that they like the medical field, the science, dealing with patients and helping people. Most of the time, hygiene is picked because its like nursing, however the hours are better, usually no "sickness" (vomiting, diareha, etc...) Losing a tooth is easier to deal with than losing a life.

Introductions

I usually start a new class by introducing myself and why I choose my profession. Then I ask the students to introduce themselves and ask them to tell why the picked Dental Hygiene as a career.

Very interesting course. It has reminded me of things I forgot, such as changing up the lectures and try to make them more interesting and fun if possible.
