About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Strong ideas to build a strong presentation. Coming from a Speech background, I also always like to make sure I understand my audience & what they are looking for in my presentation. This ties to your idea about your objective. Why is the audience there to listen to you & how can you meet their expectations? Consideration of time of day is another key aspect for consideration. Thakoor, Great ideas & should be very helpful in building credibility. Another thing that I have been impressed with lately is the vital need to build trust & how far this goes towards building credibility. People may not always agree with you, but when they know they can trust you (which you talk about) your credibility soars. Great thoughts, Ryan

Exactly right with your assessment of the difference between coaching & management. One thing I always think of when considering coaching is how really it is a partnership between coach & "coachee." When viewed in this light it helps move both towards a successful conclusion to the partnership. Again, great insight. Ryan

Andrew, I apologize for the delayed response, but I spent a good deal of time with family over the Christmas holiday. Great observation & I believe you are right on track. To me, coaching is truly about the partnership between a leader & the employee & as you said helping them reach their potential through that partnership. One word of caution, you will find that there are many definitions of "coaching" out there, so you have to always know the frame of reference of the author. Ryan
