About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Susan, So glad to see you taking the course for that purpose, that's great! I applaud your approach as well & especially your idea of detaching (as much as possible) from your own feelings. We must always remember that coaching conversations are about helping the other person develop, not accomplishing our agenda. Ryan
Once again all great ideas. I especially like your limiting of main points; quantity does not equal quality!! Ryan
Yes to all three. And just to reemphasize the importance of knowing your audience. You may not be able to control who is in the audience but by knowing the overall makeup of the group you have a better chance of appropriately adapting your presentation. Ryan
Some really great ideas here. I especially like your idea of putting relevant information around the room so that even if they are day dreaming they are seeing info! Great idea. Ryan
I like all three of these, but especially the third one. While we can't always know the answer to this question, simply by anticipating that such a question may be asked can help put us at ease. Ryan
Great ideas & very important to practice. Ryan
Again these are good skills, and we need to make sure that we don't allow these skills to cause us to run over people in our pursuit of these goals. Ryan
Organization is a great supervisory skill especially when it's balanced with great people skills. Ryan
Phillip, Great points & always a great idea to identify with the audience as much as possible. Ryan
Jody You make some great points. I particularly like the emphasis on reviewing at the end of your presentation. Ryan
