About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

I completely agree with you. Coaching is definitely a partnership & also more of a day to day activity. Ryan
Aboslutely. We also need to be updating presentations to make sure we have the most current information for our subject. Ryan
This is a good idea. Also if you're helping students with brainstorming methods, using sticky notes & flip chart paper is a great multi-sensory activity. Ryan
Yes and from the drama world, our attention follows movement. So if the instructor is remaining still & something else starts moving, guess where the students' attention will go? Ryan
The personal contact & help for students who are struggling is a great way to connect with them. This then leads to further opportunities to help them. Ryan
I too find this to be a significant challenge. Sometimes this can be a good opportunity for small group work & then you can turn more personal attention to those who are struggling. Ryan
I think this is a great analogy to remind all of us about the importance of moving frequently in the classroom. Additionally movement can also help with retention of material by the students. Ryan
This is a great strategy. Walking them through these situations & helping them think through how to handle similar situations is highly beneficial. Ryan
