About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Cheryl, Yes we often focus on the verbal, which are clearly important. However, our nonverbals do help us demonstrate an openness & enthusiasm to our students. Dr. Ryan Meers

Patricia, Great delineation between the two roles. And I agree with you 100% that a good manager has both skill sets. Ryan Dr. Ryan Meers
Eric, Great point about avoiding the long, technical explanations. Always be aware that your audience probably isn't as knowledgeable as you are about the topic. Ryan Dr. Ryan Meers
NELLY, Yes, I really do not think it is possible to be over-prepared when it comes to presentations. Ryan Dr. Ryan Meers
Carter, Great job of expanding on the exercise. I agree that having students think more deeply on the step they're given & incorporating it will solidify the idea even more. Ryan Dr. Ryan Meers
Jennifer, You are so right that the more senses we stimulate the more will be remembered. I too like to play games & I always like to emphasize a good strong debrief. As I often say in the corporate training world, the power is in the debrief! Ryan Dr. Ryan Meers
mendy , You are right it does take a significant investment of our time to stay fresh. But so much better to be that instructor with 25 years of experience rather than 1 year of experience repeated 25 times. Ryan Dr. Ryan Meers
Thomas, I think the key here in what you say is that willingness to adjust my methods to accommodate the diverse learning styles represented in the classroom. Ryan Dr. Ryan Meers
Thomas, Could you expand on your answer a little? Dr. Ryan Meers
