I beleive a dead line is a dead line.  If online or on the ground, when an assignment is given and there is a deadline for sumbission of completed work, I would accept late submissions but with 10% deducted for each day the assignment is late. The assignemt can be handed in early, but it would not be fair to other studnet that use time managment to ensure thier work is handed in on time for the late work to receive the same grade. for final projects no late submissions should be accepted.

I myself have dyslexia. So I understand how difficult it can be. I have learned to overcome it. When a student comes to me and says they have it too not only do I use approaches they have had in the past I also show them the tricks I have used myself. It also shows them that they too can over come... thrive... and be successful. The proof is right in front of them.

Gave me some new insite and let me know things I am currently doing are appropriate.

I think all continuing education is as we take what we need from it a leave the rest. As Program Director I am always looking out for the success of my students... a few l reasons not in a particular order tho becasue they are all important... with out successful students what is the point of my program?...If the student in my program do not succeed and become employed have we done a disservice? We need to gain knowledge and keep the information brought to the student current so the are well equipped. To me i base my success as and educator… >>>

When I use power point I always print the presentation in either two slides to three slides per page depending on the content on the slide. This gives the students an area to take notes while connecting those notes to the appropriate slide I believe this assists the student in making connections to the information provided, and helps with the retention of the information.

I do like the use of guest speakers. I use past graduates of my program as guest speakers as they can show how the courses in the program are necessary to achieving excellence. They can give real world examples, show the "walk in my footsteps" scenarios. My only concern with guest speakers in the field is when and if the question of salary comes up. I prep my speakers that if this does come up to reply something like this... "each site is different" "getting experience under your belt is most important" "you need to prove yourself" You are training… >>>

I had two students that became friends. Both worked besides going to school. I gave a weekend homework assignment to the class due on Monday. When I collected the homework and was reading it to grade it I found that I had read that exact essay answer earlier. So i looked thru the pile of papers and i found it was the two girls mentioned above. I put them side by side and went word for word and found that there was a 3 word difference in the entire assignment. Upon conclusion of the class i asked the two girls… >>>

just a thing that works for me... i break the assignment down into smaller managable parts i take a few mins betwween each completed part to either stretch or clear my mind befor taking on the next portion. this helps me re4duce stress
