When I started teaching, I asked everyone on the staff questions. I think a mentor system would be a great way to share ideas and foster improvement in design and delivery. Before I take this idea further, does anyone have any drawbacks that they could think of?

I feel the "mom" approach comes from a desire to keep the student happy. Unhappy students give a negative reflection of the school and might be a possible drop, so it is important to satisfy their needs for retention. Stick to your current method, and I would document everything. I think you are proceeding correctly.
I have many students in my institution who get angry because they do not understand. Their anger stems from technology rather than course content. I noticed that they never try to solve the issue, they vent or blame something until someone else does it for them. This behavior is detrimental to their future success. Does anyone have any stratgies to combat this behavior?

What a wonderful time to learn student management! My know-it-all student is frying my nerves. Her speaking out and interruptions are not only rude, but they confuse my students. I am trying to think of things I can to re-structure my class so that I do not give her the opporunity to speak out. I don't think the card trick will work here. Any suggestions?
