Effective communication and feedback are extremely important. As always, feedback should be given as soon as possible and in the appropriate setting.

Supervision and communication is key. Teachers or administraters need to have time to visit students at their internship sites to see what is and is not working well.

I like the idea of students completing a written intern paper and self-/program evaluation and presentation.

Internships should have set goals in writing so all parties know what is expected of them.

Internships are a great opporutunity for both the student and the employer. They give the students a real life working experience which can not be had any other way. It also gives the employers an insight into what type of person they may be hiring. It also gives the employer a good look at the program the student is coming from, with communication between the employer and the school program both should be able to grow and better meet the needs of the student and the employer.

That there is a need for all student support staff( teachers, counselors as well as administration) to be continually trained on the most up to date methods of professional development. I believe bringing in speakers to address staff on such matters would be very beneficial. I also liked the idea of a network mixer. Using industry partners, potential employers, and advisory members to meet with students would be a great way of introducing students to the available opportunities that await them. In our current times this is an event that could be easily accomplished using Zoom or other digital platforms.

Differentiation is the key to success. All aspects must be taken into account from the students needs to the employers needs. A good fit must be established between the student and a potential employer. Students must understand the employers expectations and the employer must be aware of the student's skill set or limitations.

We have a strong advisory board to help us. We also incorperate alumni into our advisory board, as well as having alumni come into the classroom and guest speak to the students (pre COVID).

This module emphisizes that it is the institutions responsibility to service the students to help them in reaching their goals.
