Maintaining the Fine Line of "Professionalsim"

Instructing the students is determined in the atmosphere os the classroom. Interactions through discussions and team projects will increase the interest for learning. Student enjoy participating in the learning experience and having a say about how they learn.

Notice the student.

talk with the student when you have the opportunity. Call them by name. Ask the student how they are doing. Even call the student Mr. or Ms. and their first name. Respect to the students goes further than, negative communication. Never turn your back on the student or walk away whenthey are speaking. Face-to-face communication is the best way to get their attention and obtain their respect for you.

Students have problems

Students as well as the Instructors have outside problems. We as instructors cannot bring those propblems to the classroom, nor do we want to. The students will not concentrate or dio well when they have other issues on their minds. We as Instructors need to help them through these times and find a way to keep them in school.

Goals

The first or second of class, I have the students write down their short and long term goals. Than we stick them to the inside of their textbooks. I want the students to see these goals every time they open their books. This will give them the incentive to continue.

Students projects

I like for students to work together on projects of the objectives for that day. Students have many ideas and like to tell the other students about them. learning is not just from the Instructors. I monitor the projects and make sure everyone is participating.

Student difficulties

Thw Instructor should talk with the students as to their disability. Define and brainstorm ideas that have helped the student in the past. This will rid the frustration of the student and help the Instructor to help the student.

Learning disabilities

Students have learning difficulities in verious areas of their educational career. These difficulities need to identify these disabilities and show the student how to cope with them to acheive their goals for education.

Student groups

Putting students in group gives a unity to the class. They can use the knowledge of the other students to learn when the Instructor is unable to define the material.

Moving around the room

Walking around the room not only includes the students in your lecture but will keep their attention on you. Students do not want to get caught doing other things when lecture is going on.
