I learned that there are a multidude of ways to help students find career opportunities. Not just by following up on job boards but by utilizing their inital networks of friends and fellow students. By educating students the proper methods to ask about job opportunites they can further improve thier chances of success.

This course taught me the importance of staying in contact with employers and the need to develop a realtionship with them. They may offer services or may highlight to you the types of candidates they need. Doing so will lead to a better opportunity for students in their job searches.

Teaching students about the fundamentals of interviewing is key to success. By teaching the students the basics, such as proper attire, understanding the reasoing behind questions, and preparing to interivew will offer a higher chance to be hired and stay hired.

I learned that is is important to be able to provide a list of serives to students. That being said, letting students become aware of these serices early on will help them feel confident in their job search.

I learned that the role of career services is not just to assist students and graduates find employment. The serivces that a career services center offer have the ability to impact many differnt faucets, not just students. By understanding that we are the bridge for students and employers, we can find creative ways to prepare students for a career in their field and help employers find quality candidates faster.
