Clarity of the rubric is important so the students are clear on the expections.

There are so many different components to a rubric.  I should be fair and editable if need be.

You should make sure that the rubric lines up with the assessment  

Rubrics make clear what the expectation of the student is.  

Instructors should offer ways for students to communicate and provide the technology tools they can use.

To help students complete their assignments successfully, they need to understand the rules and expectations. It's also important that they know how they're doing in the class. That’s why setting deadlines throughout the course is important.

Active learning activities like role-playing, brainstorming, and group work are easy to use in face-to-face classes, but more of a challenge in online learning. They can also be used in online classes, but they require more time and effort from both the teacher and the students.

Active learning has been proven to enhance students’ critical thinking abilities, improve overall learning effectiveness, and develop stronger writing skills.

My takeaway is that students sometimes will focus on the rubric trying to meet the criteria versus learning the material.

Students must be informed as to the scoring method. The student should also be provided with the standards for passing, so using a rubric is great.
