Good faciliting techniques are important when transitioning from a F2F environment to an online learning environment. Utilizing the LMS system, additional technologies, and discussion boards will help student engagement and a better learning outcome.

As a facilitator or learning, the students can be responsible for their own learning, however, clear communication given by the instructor is vital to a better learning outcome. In an online environement, students cannot see body language and will take what is being said literally and may misinterpret the intended message. In order to have a higher learning outcome, students need organization, interaction, participation, and feedback. Feedback will keep them more engaged, better informed, and less isolated. Whether using synchronous, asynchonous, or a mix of both methods, guidelines must be organized and clearly communicated to the students. Without clear communication, students will become confused and disengaged and the learning process will be hindered or possibly halted.

Monitor, assess, and reflect on the effectiveness of the tools, technology, and methods used to acheive the learning outcome desired.
