While human instructors often set themselves off for failure , by getting into their way of making the very best first impression of themselves to students. The fear of the unknown can prove to be very daunting if not caroused . Feelings of insecurity can be paralyzing . Remembering that we are the experts either from work experience of content matter should be enough to allay some of the jitters . Acknowledging mistakes can also alleviate some undue pressures. Students expect that we present ourselves as professionals and they pay for our expertise , they feel cheated when that is… >>>

Addressing students behaviors is necessary for the well being of all students in the class. It is not fair to you or the class to allow an individual who is not following through with the policies of either the class or the institution to continue down a destructive path. whether the infraction is cheating , loud angry outburst or any other act of unprofessionalism, Ignoring the behavior will not result in changes that can be sustained long-term.  The obvious impact is that the situation will get worst , sending a message to the other students that the behavior is acceptable… >>>

Difficult students can monopolize the classroom if not handled appropriately. While it is hard to balance feelings of wanting to help all of the students learn the content in an environment conducive to learning , and wanting to eliminate any threats to that environment permanently . I have have found that often those that on the surface appear difficult have underlining issues that have either been ignored or misunderstood. The easiest route is to avoid or  eliminate the problem or ( student) . However our mission is to help all students. . The trick sometimes is to do so despite… >>>

The content provided helpful strategies needed to deal with various challenges posed by students in the classroom. I particularly appreciated that as the instructor it is important to be purposeful when dealing with difficult students.

There were several helpful takeaways from this lesson. One was that the syllabus should be written very clearly. It should give a detailed description of the course.  The syllabus should be specific about the objectives and goals of the course, The students should also be aware of how they would be evaluated during the course.  Additionally, helpful tips regarding the need to review the content of the syllabus during the first class, as was the need to establish policies for communication and submission of assignments to include variables such as Late assignments
