About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Jodie, Guest speakers really do add a lot of validity to the course. I love how you have the students do an assignment based on the presentation as to how it relates to book theory. Patricia Scales
Hi Greg, I love to mention to my students how the course will benefit them in their career to generate excitment! Patricia Scales
Hi Philip, Students really get excited and very interested when you start to talk salary, income, money, dollars, revenue, etc.!! Patricia Scales
Hi Acie, Anytime you get the opportunity to use visual examples, please do so. Visual examples are far better than verbal examples. Students get to see and gain a better understanding with visual examples. Patricia Scales
Hi Mignonne, Awesome! You use great things to get your students excited! Everyone loves having fun while learning. Money is always motivating! Patricia Scales
Hi Jason, When students can do thing methodically, and they understand what they are doing and why they are doing it, it means they have grasped the concept. This is important for the workplace. Patricia Scales
Hi Wayne, Students need to know how to think on their own and problem solve on their own. Learning sticks more when students have to figure things out on their own. Our students really do depend on us for too much...they must learn how to think/solve. Patricia Scales
Hi Elizabeth, I like the idea of fact-based learning. There is no gray when facts are involved. This is a great way to promote critical thinking. Patricia Scales

Hi Tom, Great system in place to help work retention. Retention is really the job of all personnel. Some personnel roles are more invovled than others, but it really takes the effort of all to effectively work retention. Patricia Scales
Hi Olivirgin, Students really do get excited about guest spakers. It is good for students to hear from other professionals other than the instructor all the time. Guest speakers can really add validity to the classroom. Patricia Scales
