About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Sandra, You certainly have the right mindset. Students need to be excited about what they are learning, and the excitement starts with the instructor. Continue to have a high level of enthusiasm, and you students will love to learn what you have to teach. Patricia Scales
Hi Albert, When you talk about experience that is applicable to the course content you get students to understand the relevancy of the course, thus buying into the course. Students want to and need to know how the course is going to be helpful to them. Patricia Scales
Hi Charles, Absolutely! Students need to know how useful the course is going to be to them in order to understand the relevancy of the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Eugene, Yes, you have it! Professionalism is key at any level. A nice working relationship is healthy for the organization, but you do not have to become people's best friend at work or school. Patricia Scales

Hi John, Awesome! I can tell that you really care about your students. At the collegian level, it is admirable that you give your students a weekly progress report. Your students should really appreciate you going the extra mile for them. Patricia Scales
Hi Harold, Great tactics to deter cheating. It is painless in today's society to create different versions of a test based on the technology/software we have. Great job of putting into practice different ways to control cheating. Patricia Scales
Hi Ticha, Students enjoy it and really retain more when active learning is taking place. Our students would rather be doing instead of just listening to us lecture all the time. Patricia Scales
Hi John, We want to generate as much excitement in our students as possible. Students thrive off of excitement, and we should make learning interesting and fun for our students. Patricia Scales
