About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Evangeline, I love the reverse learning. Students feel more at ease when they have the answer and they just need to find out how the answer derived. Patricia Scales
Hi Vaughan, Make sure you cover what needs to be covered first and then if time allows do the extras. Patricia Scales
Hi Rachel, I only befriend students on facebook when they graduate; this is way too risky while they are students. I fully understand being their friend on LindedIn. Patricia Scales
Hi Colby, Try a variety of various teaching methods, especailly simulations, role playing, scenarios, games, etc. Patricia Scales
Hi Mabel, When examples are shared students really are more at ease. We should do all we can to put our students at ease. College in itself is very stressful. Patricia Scales
Hi Dawn, We must provide our students with clear expectations and providing examples bring about great clarity. Patricia Scales
Hi Wendy, Great idea! I also love bringing in graduates as guest speakers to share their success and where they came from. Patricia Scales
Hi Eddie, I really love getting students excited by applying everything we do to the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi James, Students love knowing that we genuinely care about them and their success. Patricia Scales
Hi Sandy, I love it too when graduates pop in. I like for the graduates to quickly share their success and where they came from with the class to motivate them. Patricia Scales
