About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi William, That's right! We have to let every student know that they matter because in essence they really do! They are certainly the most important people in the building. Patricia Scales
Hi Patricia, Absolutely! The workplace is not going to tolerate deadlines not being met. Patricia Scales
Hi Elizabeth, I can attest after teaching for more than 23 years, a lot of our students never had to get serious about their education in their home. I preach to my children as well as my students the importance of an education. Patricia Scales
Hi Rassiel, I concur! When students understand how the class will be useful to them either personally/professionally they understand the relevancy of the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Melissa, I fully understand! Some students get a better understanding when they can actually see what is expected of them. Patricia Scales
Hi Carla, Awesome ways to provide clarity. I like the idea of giving students examples. Examples clear up unclear points. Patricia Scales
Hi Wendy, It sounds like you do a fine job to ensure your students have great clarity about the syllabus and what is expected of them. Patricia Scales
Hi Nancy, Excellent way to come up with ideas to keep your students engaged. No one wants to be bored. I never teach any class the same way twice. I am always thinking what I can do better to keep my students wanting to come back for more. Patricia Scales
Hi Elizabeth, I like how you make learning apply to the real world. I can tell that you genuinely care about your students. You are very fair with your students, and it shows. I love the idea of peer grading; students need to know that being accountable is extremely important in the workplace. Patricia Scales
Hi Richard, Tactile learning is very good; simply because some students really need to feel it. Patricia Scales
