About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Judi, I concur! Preparation is a must! Students can quickly tell when you are unprepared, and they will rake you over the coals when you come into class unprepared. Patricia Scales
Hi Mary, Distance is a must when it comes to a student/instructor relationship. The relationship should be strictly professional. Patricia Scales
Hi Gary, This is a good way to determine if the students are grasping the concepts or not. Patricia Scales
Hi Heather, Distance is key! The instructor should always act as the professional in a student/teacher relationship. Students need role models, not another friend. Patricia Scales
Hi Mary, Some students really are easily distracted, and they are unable to fully focus on their work when the instructor walks around during test time. Patricia Scales
Hi Judi, It is always a good idea to make sure students are engaged. The inattentive student has to have a role of importance in order to keep their attention. Patricia Scales
Hi Ghaleb, Students like variation. We have to make the students want to come to class every day. Patricia Scales
Hi Diane, Great question to have students give thought to what was done, the importance, the relevance, and the benefit. Patricia Scales
Hi Leslie, I concur! Students need to be dealt with quickly and swiftly. Waiting only makes matters worse. Patricia Scales
Hi Rhoda, When we make the course relevant to the students career, they get it, and they understand the relevancy. Patricia Scales
