About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Linda, Wow, you are so organized and ready! Your students should really appreciate you. You sound so much like myself. Preparation is key! Things are so much better when you are prepared. Continue to be ready for your students, and you will continue to shine as an educator. Patricia Scales
Hi Rhoda, Guest speakers are priceless! Graduate guest speakers are the absolute best! Guest speakers add all types of flame to the fire. Students love having guest speakers. Guest speakers bring real life into all the book theory. Patricia Scales
Hi Sharon, Students love hands-on activities. They love staying busy, and with a lot of our students if they can do it, they can master the concept. Patricia Scales
Hi Emily, I like how you let the students know before hand how you want them to be involved in the upcoming lecture. This is also a great way to keep students coming back for more. Patricia Scales
Hi Kim, Absolutely! We must hold our students to very high expectations, and always remember, we get from our students what we expect. Patricia Scales
Hi Kris, Absolutely! When you can share personal stories that are applicable to the lesson/subject, students gain a better understanding for the importance of the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Eric, Students need to have very clear expectations so that there is no room for questioning what is to be done. A visual adds great clarity. Patricia Scales
Hi Linda, The more you teach, the more proactive you will become! First day rules are a must! I have been teaching for more than 23 years, and it is still work in progress. Patricia Scales
Hi Marc, Love it, when learning is made real. Students can actually understand how this lesson can be extremely beneficial on the job. Patricia Scales
Hi Stephen, I like how you give your students an opportunity to gather their thoughts as to why, and then you let them know exactly why. Great learning exercise! Patricia Scales
