About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Lev, What a great way to promote critical thinking and to make the assignment applicable to the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi John, This is awesome! Students get to deal with things they will encounter on the job. Patricia Scales
Hi Jennifer, Students are more motivated to begin an assignment with they are familiar with it. Patricia Scales
Hi Carol, I love it! You put the thinking and justification on the student. some students think clearer when you mention their money. Patricia Scales
Hi Paul, Students love graduate guest speakers/interns. The speakers really shed great light as to what is expected in the real world. Students buy in when they hear what we are teaching them from outsiders is valid. Patricia Scales
Hi Juliana, It is good to let students put themselves in others shoes when it comes to workplace scenarios. Students need as much practice as possible when dealing with on-the-job situations. Patricia Scales
Hi Diane, Awesome! This exercise prepares the students for personal use as well. Students will certainly think through this activity thoroughly because most of our students enjoy computers and understand their importance. They also may even be in the market for a computer. Patricia Scales
Hi Karen, Preparation is a must! Students will rake you over the coals if you are unprepared. Patricia Scales
Hi LaWandra, Awesome! We have to be our students biggest cheerleader! Continue to cheer them on with the highest praise to help them reach their goal. Patricia Scales
Hi Karen, Guest speakers are priceless, and it is good for students to hear from other professionals other then the instructor all the time. The guest speaker can give students a real good idea as to what is expected on the job. Patricia Scales
