About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Amie, It is good for students and instructors to know the learning style of their students so that learning becomes easier to them. The instructor should try to approach the lesson so that he/she reaches all types of learners. Patricia Scales
Hi HUMA, This activity gets students working by getting others invovled to help them with the critical thinking portion of their project. Patricia Scales
Hi Dennis, I like the idea of giving questions up front so that students are focused on the lecture to get answers to the questions. This is a good way to engage students in the lesson. Patricia Scales
Hi George, I like what you do to generate critical thinking. I like to do role playing as well to promote critical thinking. Patricia Scales
Hi Freddie, I like your attitude! Appearance gains a sense of respect as well. I can tell you look and act the part of a professional/educator. Patricia Scales
Hi Paul, These are great ways to minimize cheating. The instructor does not need to do any activities while the student is testing; the instructor needs to be on their feet watching the students while students are testing. Patricia Scales
Hi Peter, I concur! No one likes just sitting and listening all the time or the majority of the time. Let's get our students involved so that they become excited about the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Ricmanuel, When students are actively involved, quality learning is really taking place. Patricia Scales
Hi Peter, Sharing examples are so helpful in many ways. It is a win-win situation for both instructors and students. Things are much more simplified when examples are shared. Patricia Scales
Hi Matthew, I love the approach you take with your students. You seem to be very straightforward and caring when it comes to your students. Patricia Scales
