About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Maria Estela, Great way to keep students on point and provide clarity. Patricia Scales
Hi Anne, Great ways to get the students interest going. Students really do enjoy hearing ours stories/experiences as they apply to the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Malerie, We do the same thing on Day 1 at my institution. Students can not play the card that they did not know because the syllabus is covered thoroughly. Patricia Scales
Hi Malerie, Students love it when we share our stories/experiences as they apply to the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Dr. Fu-Sen, I concur! Enthusiasm really begins with the instructor. When the instructor is excited, the student generally becomes excited. Students need to fully understand how the course is going to help them in their career. Patricia Scales
Hi Jean-rene, Students also need to fully understand how the course is going to help them in their career. Patricia Scales
Hi Natalie, I agree! When adult learners understand the relevancy of the course, they automatically buy in. Patricia Scales
Hi Beryl, I concur! I love how you allow your students to take ownership by selecting their project. Patricia Scales
Hi Nicole, You have it! Guest speakers are very enlightening. Patricia Scales
Hi Maria Estela, True! I generally leave an empty seat between each student, if space allows, and I also use different versions of the test to curtail cheating. Patricia Scales
