About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi WENDY, A good way to help students keep their eyes on the prize as well. By asking this question, students understand they need the course to get where they want to go in five years. Patricia Scales

Hi Bryce, I agree! It is a good mixture of being firm, yet nice to the customer (student). Patricia Scales
Hi Mike, We do the same thing at my education institution. Our students have competencies that they must pass in their clinical and lab courses to better prepare them for the workplace. The competencies involve critical and analytical skills. Patricia Scales
Hi Lisa, I too love guest speakers, and I have learned that students love them too! Guest speakers really bring book theory to real life! Patricia Scales
Hi Edward, For some students it is a big adjustment from high school to college. You are doing the right thing by making it known to students on Day 1 that they are at a different level now and must act accordingly. Patricia Scales
Hi Karen, Awesome to go the extra mile for your students! Students love it when we directly make the course relate to the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Michael, Students absolutely love being shown examples. Examples make for better clarity. Patricia Scales
Hi Deb, Even adult students love prizes! Students love it when they are having fun while learning. Patricia Scales
