About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Christine, You do a fabulous job of curtailing cheating. You have an effective sytem in place to help minimize cheating. Patricia Scales
Hi Julie, You are on point! Guest speakers can certainly put things in perspective for students. The guest speaker can let them know that their struggles are not unique to them. Struggles happen, but you can still be successful. Patricia Scales
Hi Donald, Students love knowing how what they are learning is going to be applied in the real world. Patricia Scales

Hi James, students really do get out what they put in. We as educators need to push/motivate our students to be driven to get the most out of their education. Patricia Scales
Hi Marie, The instructor/student relationship should be PROFESSIONAL only. Too much is at risk when the instructor/student relationship becomes personal. Patricia Scales
Hi Ana-Maria, I agree! Excitement starts at the top with the instructor. Students get excited when the instructor is excited. Patricia Scales
Hi Achla, Students tend to do better when examples are shared. Great clarity is added from examples being shown. Patricia Scales
Hi Jeanne, Students really do enjoy this type of learning. Students buy in to the course by doing these type of activities. Patricia Scales
Hi Rae Lynne, Students love it when learning is directly applicable to things they will encounter in the real world. Students are excited about learning that applies to the real world. What an awesome way to get students prepared for the final exam, and the best part is that they are having fun while learning. I am sure your students do well on the final exam partly because of this fun learning activity. Students retain more when they are having fun while learning. Patricia Scales
Hi Melissa, This is an exercise that really makes students think out of the box. I am just wondering if any student ever got the correct answer. It is amazing how people can justify why they rank things as they do. Patricia Scales
