David-- This sounds like a great plan. I especially like that you discuss needed supplies and orientate them to test styles. You are absolutely correct, test taking is a skill. Susan

Stephen-- This is a great point. Students enroll in school for a variety of reasons. The outcome is always because they want a different type of life. Some know exactly what they want and others just know this is a necessity. Finding out where they are and helping them have a clear direction is important. Susan

Stephen-- This is a perfect example of how students feel they are 'behind' the rest of the class. Great job in taking that fear away by recognizing it up front. Susan

Carl-- Haven't tried it myself, but I think it's a great idea. Someone earlier mentioned changing up the groups so everyone got to meet more people. Your idea is a good one, too. Susan

Thomas-- Awesome! Your genuine concern for them as people and in preparing them for on-the-job success (not just a grade, as you point out) comes through loud and clear. Kudos! Susan

Kristilyn-- That is a very important skill...good for you to teach them about learning and communication styles. This is a skill they will use everyday on and off the job. Susan

Carl-- The idea of using a calendar to break down your class is interesting. Do you also encourage them to use the calendar to gain some time management skills of their own? Susan
