Branding is important with an emphasis on inbound marketing. Helping others and providing useful information is part of what you do to differentiate yourself. Rotating keywords and having specific keywords that are directly related to your career and more. 

Its also important to have your personality shine through in videos, your words, and even pictures. Video resumes and slide show presentations can help people (especially recruiters) find you.

Online reputation is huge. I've seen several of my students choose a neutral position and really have nothing on the web that gives a potential employer a possibility to see what they're up to. 

Diagnosing the problem is key and being able to present your students with possible solutions is huge!

Even the simpler idea of using keywords related to your career with hyphens in your resume pdf or doc name is fascinating. Even finding something with a moderate search volume is a great search technique to use. 

Social currency is incredibly relevant today. Who are you and what do you do. I'm sure potential employers look through the web to find out who this person is that they are potentially hiring.  I agree with the articles that resumes are going to change and they'll be much more dynamic and have embedded material. Sites like Linked-in will connect with more and more third-party sites to easily send your information over in a much more intuitive way than now.
