The subtle ways to turn a negative condition into a positive one is really helpful when dealing with the various personalities of students. 

Timely feedback on the subject quizzes to keep students engaged and on track is necessary to ensure students are successful in passing the class.  Further understanding of the subject matter can be achieved by correcting deviations or misunderstanding of concepts immediately. 

With this approach, students can absorb content at their own pace and on their own schedule. It makes more difficult concepts easier to understand.

Courses should have a clear direction and goal set forth early in the course.  Engagement of the students will keep interest levels high and provide a sense of accomplishment.
