Opening class with a joke or something light-hearted is helpful to set a fun tone for the class.

How to accommodate the varying needs of students coming from different backgrounds and with different life experiences. This will be a very large hurdle to overcome in a classroom at a university like ECPI. There will be a lot more diversity than in a traditional setting. Using the student's backgrounds as a starting point for discussion will be helpful.

How better to run the first class meeting and have students know what they are doing and where they are going.

Having a checklist of tasks that need to be completed and keeping a notepad with me to remember what I say I will do during class.
