An interesting and useful primer on personality trait considerations.

With regard to "True Colors" all I kept thinking about was Cyndi Lauper. But I digress....

A good primer on personality traits and profiles.

I found the mention of Second Life interesting since I used it in my doctoral degree program some 5-6 years ago. I didn't find it to be very relevant then or now, but it was interesting to consider how it might be used. I suppose were I a 'gamer' and into that sort of virtual reality stuff it might have been more applicable to my interests, but as it stood, all I took away was - 'been there and done that!"

I have spent my entire academic life online (17 years) and I still find it interesting to hear traditional on-ground instructors who feel that online is inferior to on-ground learning. Clearly they are not willing to abandon the platform they are so accustomed to using and are both indifferent and attitudinally negative with regard to online learning, unwilling to accept it or embrace it. Hopefully Covid has changed a few minds - but I doubt it.

It was an interesting read, especially addressing the concerns and doubts concerning active learning techniques and practices.

Active Learning is an essential element of instructing and preparing students for life in the 'real-world' upon graduation.

Two of the biggest obstacles to using a blog in a course of instruction is; 1.) Learning Curve, and 2) Course duration. Since I instruct mostly adult learners, some but not all are familiar with blogging. Add to that a short duration course of 5-8 weeks and the need to learn and become comfortable blogging is a main obstacle, aside from the goals and expectations of the course purpose.

An interesting read and perspective.

One of the biggest drawbacks to using Social Media is the rampant use of copyrighted material in the classroom or in posts on social media websites. Seldom if ever do you see a reference to a citation or source included in an image, quote, or other such material. I note this serious omission in many posts by instructors and even the institutions themselves. Free Use does not apply to all institutions, especially the 'for profits."
