Class introductions allow for the students to get to know each other, for you as the instructor to begin to get to know them as well as for the students to learn about the instructor. It serves as an ice breaker and helps alleviate first day nervousness.

Being prepared for class, having supplies ready to go, plus a clear and descriptive syllabus is critical to student success as well as instructor success. 

My personal takeaway is to practice being more engaging and display the passion I have for my particular field.
