it is important to use multiple techniques in engaging students in an online format and being willing to adapt as you see what works and what doesn't

It is important as the teacher to set the standards and expectations of communication early and enforce said expectations

For online learning, I am a bigger fan of asynchronous.  I just think it's not fair to try to force everyone in their own homes to a certain schedule.  The beauty of online learning is its flexibility to be done at your own pace.

there are so many teaching tools out there.  I think it is great that there is probably one that really suits a teachings strength so they can continue to do what they do best even virtually.

It's important to always keep improving and remaining open to change and criticism

The crucial thing of assessments is making sure there is a purpose behind it.  It's not just about spitting back information, but it's about showing mastery of the learning.

The more I learn about online learning I think of classic video games.  You start out basic with limited abilities and as you progress to future levels you unlock more and are capable of more.  Your online class is similar in that you start out basic and as you progress at your pace you achieve new harder things and tasks.

Something I took away is the importance of continuity from module to module.  Not only do they need to look the same but they need to continue to scaffold from one to the next to the next.

Even in online learning, you will face the same types of behavior issues you would in class, they just present themselves in different ways.

I think it's important to make sure to keep the discussions streamlined.  If you do not it will almost be impossible to stay on task.
