Activity

When starting a new lab course, safety rules and regulations must be discussed and implemented to keep all students safe.
All areas need to be used. Each student is different and results will be according to the knowledge base of each individual student.
Since I am a clinical instructor, I must engage each student to perform skills. Pairing a student with another student, helps both students in deciding the best way to proceed to accomplish the task.
I am a clinical instructor. So assessing each student depends on their knowledge base. The student has to apply what they have learned in lecture and how it relates to the patient they are caring for. If the student's technical skills are not correct, I explain and show how the skills are performed. This will help with communication and taking responsibility for learning the skills.

Getting to know your students will help in understanding what differences they may have and find a way to teach to include everyone.

Having an annual disclosure signed by the student's is important.  This reminds them of who can and cannot see their records.

As a new clinical instructor, learning about FERPA was important to me.  It gave me a better understanding of the importance of protecting the student's records and rights.
